Prep 2 min · Yield 1 glass · 0 kcal
- 011 glass (8-12 oz) filtered water, room temperature
- 021/8 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt
- 031 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
- A.Fill the glass with room-temperature filtered water.
- B.Add a pinch (1/8 tsp) of Himalayan pink salt.
- C.Stir until dissolved. Add lemon juice if desired.
- D.Drink it on an empty stomach.
A pinch of salt in water provides trace sodium and minerals (sodium, plus small amounts of magnesium and potassium from Himalayan salt). It does not "burn fat," "boost metabolism by 30%," or "trigger ketosis." Hydration in the morning is sensible for most people. The salt is optional.

Where the trend came from
The "pink salt trick" exploded on TikTok and Instagram in 2024-2025, framed as a morning ritual that "melts belly fat." It does not. People who like the ritual tend to drink more water overall, which is the part that matters.
